These days, technology is evolving so fast that stories of science fiction becoming real-life are almost banal. But the latest tech innovation from Hyundai is a truly astounding invention with a host of potential applications. And it will probably remind you of all sorts of classic films…
Hyundai calls it a wearable robot. It’s a mechanical exoskeleton, designed to be worn by a person to give them strength and mobility.
Granted, the suit is ugly and intimidating in its current form, but its uses are almost endless. For instance, it could enable senior citizens and people with various disabilities. It could also be used in factories. The suit could also be employed as an aid in restoring physical ability to those who have been injured.
Of course, for anyone who has seen Robocop, Iron Man, or The Matrix Revolutions, by far the coolest application for the wearable robot by Hyundai could be for law enforcement or military soldiers.

At the Chicago Auto Show back in February, the Hyundai Tucson took home the coveted 2016 MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Award in “Best Small Utility” for its best overall value, practicality, performance, and fuel efficiency.
The Tucson scored the sought-after accolade thanks to its full redesign, which offers drivers a crossover that’s more equipped for the challenges of the road and more cost-effective than competitors in its class.

There are a lot of crossovers out there these days—it’s the fastest-growing segment in the United States. But, thanks to the 2016 Hyundai Tucson’s elevated safety features, high-standard for interior technologies, and overall quality of engineering and drive experience, this CUV has been able to stand out and impress not just critics, but the people who really matter: the folks who actually drive them.
MotorWeek, the group behind the longest-running automotive program on television, has given out the Drivers’ Choice Award every year since 1983.
Happy anniversary, Hyundai Motor America!
This year, the South Korean automaker is celebrating 30 years in America. In 1986, Hyundai entered the United States as a small automaker—amid dominating industry giants like Ford and Toyota—with only one vehicle: the Hyundai Excel. Today, Hyundai is the world’s fifth-largest automaker, with 14 vehicle models in its American lineup alone.
The past year has been a big one for Hyundai. Recently, the brand rocketed past its 10-millionth car sale in the United States; its Super Bowl commercial was ranked at the top of USA TODAY’s Ad Meter (the first time an automaker took the top spot); and, Hyundai has just launched its all-new luxury brand, Genesis.
In its 30 years in America, Hyundai has gone from being all-imports to boasting 60% of cars sold here being made in the US; that’s far more than some of those brands that like to label themselves “all-American.”
Here’s to three more decades of growth and innovation!
Hybrids are becoming more popular than ever before thanks to some innovative advancements in the industry. Made more efficient and eco-friendly, hybrid models are being offered or researched by most major manufacturers. Here is some information explaining how hybrids work.
According to Edmunds, the most basic explanation is that a hybrid combines a small gasoline engine with an electric motor system. Typically, the electric motor is used at low speeds and supplements power when accelerating, passing, etc. While the first hybrid offered worldwide was the Prius, there are several models now on the market.
A hybrid works by storing electricity in a battery system and then using this power in a motor. This stored power is produced either through an outlet (and used in a plug-in hybrid) or it is made by the engine itself. In some models, the power from the gas engine is split, with some energy going to the wheels, while the other goes to a small generator to produce power for the batteries.
Other intelligent systems in hybrid models include regenerative braking, which uses friction from brakes to produce power, and electricity monitoring systems. You can activate features like some sort of Eco-Mode, use all electricity, or switch on a power “boost” for high-performance designs.
What are the advantages? Hybrids save more fuel, but they also limit emissions and increase performance. The Hyundai Sonata Hybrid comes with standard hybrid and plug-in hybrid designs. Car shoppers interested in the Sonata Hybrid should also see the Tucson Fuel Cell vehicle.

Hyundai is giving 25 football fans the opportunity of a lifetime. As an official sponsor of the NFL and Super Bowl 50, the brand is giving a pair of tickets (50 total) to 25 fans, as well as lodging, transportation, and more.
Contestants for the Hyundai Super Bowl Sweepstakes can earn points that increase the likelihood of winning, according to Hyundai. Fans can earn entry points by registering at football.hyundaisweepstakes.com for 1 point, by test driving at a local dealer for 10 points, and by getting friends to enter (5 points). Contestants can have a total of 16 points.
“With these sweepstakes we want to give back to fans of the Hyundai brand,” said Trea Reedy, senior group manager, experiential marketing, Hyundai Motor America. “By giving 50 fans the chance to spend a night in the heart of the action, at one of the world’s biggest sporting events, we hope to give them an experience that they won’t soon forget.”
Hyundai has been busy connecting with NFL fans all year, and will run a series of Super Bowl ads during the game in February. This is just one of many ways Hyundai is celebrating its new participation with the NFL.
About a month before the big debut in January, Hyundai has released an all-new teaser image of the upcoming 2017 Hyundai Ioniq, giving us a sneak peek at the much-anticipated electric vehicle.
We’ve been looking forward to the Hyundai Ioniq ever since it was first announced, especially since it will be an industry first: offering the option of a hybrid (HEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV), or battery electric (BEV) powertrain.
You can check out the Hyundai Ioniq teaser picture here, to get a good look. The image is merely a silhouette, but it does give a clear outline of the vehicle’s general shape. Hopefully, Hyundai will release more pictures before the release date.
The 2017 Hyundai Ioniq is looking to blow its competitors out of the water, and we can’t wait to see how it performs. In the meantime, visit us anytime at Gossett Hyundai to explore our current Hyundai models.
Current Hyundai Genesis Coupe
Preparing for the seventh consecutive SEMA show this year, Hyundai decided to partner with ARK Performance, a car-tuning company known worldwide for its impressive designs. So far, the ARK Performance Genesis is making quite a stir in the car enthusiast community thanks to its powerful engine and seek exterior.
According to Hyundai, the ARK Genesis has a wider look to give it a more athletic stance, a redesigned dash, racing gauges and steering, and tons of carbon fiber. Under the hood, this model has a 4.0-liter Stroker Kit, which builds on the standard 3.8-liter V6 engine.
“The Genesis Coupe is the perfect platform for developing our performance product lineup,” said Kevin Bentley, Marketing and Sales Manager, ARK Performance, Inc. “Hyundai’s 3.8-liter engine is strong enough to handle all the extra power we’re now developing, and the chassis is well balanced and easy to modify, allowing us to create this lowered, aggressive stance while maintaining that clean look we’re going for.”
This model also has new pistons, rods, and a crankshaft, as well as custom wheels, suspension, and more. Basically, the whole exterior has been re-contoured, and the interior has some serious upgrades, including a premium speaker system, AiM Sports digital display, a custom threaded shifter, and more.
Hyundai recently announced plans to unveil its new high-performance car sub-brand ‘N’ at the Frankfurt Auto Show. N will build on Hyundai’s resume of motorsports as a primary competitor in the World Rally Championship, and their reputation for innovation in the realm of high-performance vehicles. The Hyundai N sub-brand lineup will only have three cars for the show, but the models themselves are unique and bold examples of Hyundai’s dedication to the genre.
One of the cars to debut is the i20 WRC prototype. A modified i20 has already been seen competing in rallies, and this i20 is currently undergoing rigorous rally testing. The car is expected to compete in the 2016 FIA World Rally Championship at Rallye Monte Carlo.
Two other cars in the lineup are the Hyundai N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo and the Hyundai RM15 concept cars. The RM15 is particularly striking in its design; it was made to hold its engine in the center as opposed to under the hood, in order to better distribute the car’s weight and center of gravity.
The unusual concepts in the Hyundai N sub-brand are certainly eye-catching and put a new spin on high-performance cars. Hopefully there will be much more to come from the new sub-brand as the company continues creating innovative new vehicles.
